Flexby has joined forces with BIOVAL, a three-year EU-funded project bringing together 10 partners from 6 EU Member States to accelerate Europe’s transition toward a more circular, sustainable, and bio-based economy.
BIOVAL is developing next-generation biorefinery solutions that transform biogenic CO₂ and biomass into high-value products and biofuels. Its ambitious vision is to create and scale an integrated, energy-driven circular biorefinery up to TRL5, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero waste and zero carbon emissions.

High-added-value bioproducts
Bioenergy
Organic fertiliser
A key focus of BIOVAL’s research lies in the combination of different microalgal cultivations and high-pressure gas fermentation, allowing the adaptation of the operation to fluctuations in the market and raw material availability.
In the years ahead, Flexby will play an active role in coordinating joint communication and dissemination activities with BIOVAL partners and aligned European initiatives. This collaboration will support the development of innovative circular value chains that transform biological resources, industrial side streams, and biogenic CO₂ into sustainable solutions for the future.
